Peter Kappelman has been a small business farm owner for his entire career and is a fourth generation dairy farmer. As such, he understands the challenge that small employers and their employees face when trying to access quality health care with the assurance and benefits of an affordable health coverage plan. Peter also understands the cooperative business model having been actively involved in Land O’Lakes dairy cooperative, serving for many years as its Chairman. Peter understands that non-profit cooperatives are about people and service, and that’s why he ran for the CGHC Board of Directors.
Peter calls his passion in life “uniting people with a common purpose to achieve what they couldn’t accomplish on their own”. He is active in several advocacy and educational organizations including the National Milk Producers Federation, Holstein USA and the Wisconsin Agricultural Educational Center. He is Vice-Chair of Heifer International, a non-profit that helps end poverty and hunger around the world. He farms in partnership with his family in Two Rivers, WI.
