Throughout his career, Dr. David Plocher has served in a variety of health care leadership positions for health insurance companies and in management consulting for hospital systems. David’s shared involvement with payers and providers has given him the chance to advance payer-provider collaboratives, including bundled payment contracts, medical homes, and ACOs. He pioneered one of the first nationwide Centers of Excellence networks making the experience free to organ transplant patients at centers with the highest one year survival rates. David spent 14 years at Ernst & Young and was named partner, and he was most recently Chief Medical Officer at BCBS Minnesota where he had a key role in leading a financial turnaround.
David attended medical school at the University of Minnesota Minneapolis campus, which included rotations at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He graduated with honors, a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honorary Medical Society, and is Board Certified in Internal Medicine. He currently serves on the Editorial Board of the journal Population Health.
